Opportunity Summary

We’re looking for a Senior Program Manager to lead the execution of complex space and defense programs at a cutting-edge hardware company developing next-generation RF systems. In this high-impact role, you’ll oversee cost, schedule, and technical performance from program kickoff through final delivery, working across engineering, manufacturing, quality, and finance to ensure excellence at every milestone. This is an ideal opportunity for a seasoned technical leader with a background in aerospace systems or high-reliability hardware, who thrives in fast-paced environments and has a proven ability to lead matrixed teams and navigate customer requirements in the space sector.

About Us

We are a California-based engineering and manufacturing company focused on RF payload components and integrated systems for satellite and airborne platforms. With fully in-house design, test, and production capabilities, we serve both commercial and national security customers, delivering high-performance subsystems that support mission-critical communications and sensing applications. Our company operates independently but is backed by a larger aerospace technology group, combining the resources of a major player with the agility of a tightly focused team.

Job Duties

  • Drive program execution across cost, schedule, and technical performance objectives
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customer communication and ongoing stakeholder updates
  • Develop detailed program work-breakdown structures (WBS) and integrated program schedules
  • Generate and manage program budgets, including labor, materials, and other direct costs, in collaboration with functional leads
  • Provide internal and external program status updates, including earned value metrics, risk assessments, and schedule tracking
  • Coordinate internal design reviews and ensure alignment with technical requirements, program milestones, and customer expectations
  • Prepare and deliver formal customer reviews (PDR, CDR, TRR, MRR) and lead the submission of related contractual deliverables
  • Ensure timely closure of action items and deliverables across all phases of the program
  • Contribute to new business pursuits by supporting bids and proposals, generating cost estimates, and drafting compliance and management volumes
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to prioritize program objectives and resolve resource conflicts
  • Conduct regular executive briefings using standard reporting tools and dashboards

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, applied science, or a related technical field
  • 8+ years of experience managing technical hardware programs in aerospace, defense, or high-reliability systems
  • Familiarity with the development lifecycle of RF, microwave, or advanced electronics components
  • Strong background in program planning, team leadership, and performance management
  • Experience working with customer contracts, technical specifications, and compliance documentation
  • Demonstrated ability to manage cost and schedule performance using EVMS or similar frameworks
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present to executive leadership and external stakeholders
  • Knowledge of quality systems such as AS9100 and relevant documentation standards
  • Ability to lead both technical and non-technical contributors across multiple disciplines
  • Skilled in risk management, schedule analysis, and multi-program coordination

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with space-qualified hardware programs, including GEO, LEO, or defense satellite systems
  • Familiarity with subsystem-level requirements in communications, radar, or electronic warfare
  • Understanding of contractual review processes and compliance documentation
  • Technical literacy in RF, microwave, or related signal chain components
  • Prior experience interfacing with government or prime contractors in aerospace programs
  • Proficiency with program management tools and software

Security Clearance

  • Must be able to obtain US Secret clearance.
