Senior Engineer – Prototype Weld & Paint
About the Role
Join our Prototype Department as a Senior Engineer supporting weld and paint processes for prototype vehicle builds. You’ll lead tooling prep, process planning, supplier coordination, and ensure high-quality, on-time vehicle delivery.
What You’ll Do
- Plan tooling, welding, and paint processes for prototype builds
- Manage quotes, suppliers, CAD reviews, schedules, and quality checks
- Create and track the Operation Plan for in-house and vendor work
- Communicate status and issues with project teams and leadership
- Oversee build activities at vendors and in-house lines
- Resolve tooling/process issues and ensure parts meet requirements
- Travel to suppliers and support overlapping project tasks
Required
- Bachelor’s in Mechanical, Electrical, or Weld Engineering
- 4+ years on vehicle programs (manufacturing, design, PD, or quality)
- Strong knowledge of tooling, welding, and painting processes
- Proficient in CATIA and robot offline programming
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Willing to travel (20%) and work overtime (up to 25%)
Preferred
- Master’s degree
- Experience with PolyWorks, LSW, Self-Piercing Rivets, or equipment installs
- Experience managing 3D data or cross-functional engineering work
Pay Rate: $76 - 80 per hour
