Senior Engineer – Prototype Weld & Paint

About the Role

Join our Prototype Department as a Senior Engineer supporting weld and paint processes for prototype vehicle builds. You’ll lead tooling prep, process planning, supplier coordination, and ensure high-quality, on-time vehicle delivery.

What You’ll Do

  • Plan tooling, welding, and paint processes for prototype builds
  • Manage quotes, suppliers, CAD reviews, schedules, and quality checks
  • Create and track the Operation Plan for in-house and vendor work
  • Communicate status and issues with project teams and leadership
  • Oversee build activities at vendors and in-house lines
  • Resolve tooling/process issues and ensure parts meet requirements
  • Travel to suppliers and support overlapping project tasks

Required

  • Bachelor’s in Mechanical, Electrical, or Weld Engineering
  • 4+ years on vehicle programs (manufacturing, design, PD, or quality)
  • Strong knowledge of tooling, welding, and painting processes
  • Proficient in CATIA and robot offline programming
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Willing to travel (20%) and work overtime (up to 25%)

Preferred

  • Master’s degree
  • Experience with PolyWorks, LSW, Self-Piercing Rivets, or equipment installs
  • Experience managing 3D data or cross-functional engineering work


Pay Rate: $76 - 80 per hour
