Human Resources (Contract) – Civil & Structural Engineering Firm

Title: Human Resources Specialist – Contract | Mid-Sized Engineering Firm | Northern Virginia area


A respected mid-sized, full-service civil and structural engineering firm is seeking an experienced Human Resources professional for a long-term contract opportunity. Based in the Washington, DC metro area, this firm is known for its dynamic project portfolio and collaborative culture.

As the HR Specialist, you will help support both field and office personnel across multiple departments, handling day-to-day human resources operations during a key period of organizational growth and transition.


Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Support full-cycle recruitment and onboarding of new hires
  • Coordinate employee paperwork, E-Verify, and benefits enrollment
  • Serve as a liaison for employee relations and HR policy questions
  • Maintain employee records and assist with compliance audits
  • Support the HR Manager with special projects and reporting (EEO, benefits, etc.)


Qualifications:

  • 2–4 years of human resources experience (engineering or AEC industry experience preferred)
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Outlook)
  • Knowledge of employment law, benefits administration, and onboarding compliance
  • Strong interpersonal and confidentiality skills
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification (preferred)
