Territory Sales Representative - Building Materials/Metal Roofing



Position Overview

Our client, a rapidly growing manufacturer in the metal roofing and building materials industry, is seeking an experienced Territory Sales Representative to develop and manage sales across Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island. Territory & Location

  • Coverage Area: Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island
  • Preferred Base Location: Connecticut or Massachusetts (Springfield area ideal for territory coverage)
  • Travel Requirements: Extensive field work required; candidate must be within 2 hours of entire territory


Key Responsibilities

• Develop new business relationships with roofing supply houses, lumber yards, and hardware stores

• Maintain and grow existing distributor partnerships throughout the territory

• Execute pull-through sales strategies with contractors and end-users

• Cold call prospective accounts and conduct territory development activities

• Provide technical support and product education to customers

• Achieve sales targets and territory development goals

• Manage customer relationships and resolve any service issues


Ideal Candidate Profile

Experience Requirements:

• 5+ years of outside sales experience in building materials industry

• Proven track record of developing distributor relationships

• Experience selling through roofing supply houses, lumber yards, or similar channels

• Background in flat roofing, metal roofing, windows, doors, or related building products preferred


Key Qualifications:

• Strong existing relationships with distributors/suppliers (more valuable than technical product knowledge)

• Demonstrated ability to handle rejection and maintain persistence

• Self-motivated with excellent territory management skills

• Professional communication and presentation abilities

• Technology proficient for CRM and reporting requirements

Compensation & Benefits

• Base Salary: $70,000 annually

• Commission Structure: 1% of sales with significant earning potential

• Territory Potential: $3+ million in sales within 2 years

• Expense Coverage: All business expenses and mileage ($0.71/mile) covered

• Benefits Package: Health insurance available (employee contribution required)
