Are you an IT Operations Manager looking for your next permanent role? The IT Operations Manager reports to the director, information technology and will plan, organize and direct a team of dedicated employees and contractors. The IT operations manager manages an infrastructure team and help desk team in order to ensure the stable operation of the company's IT infrastructure. This includes developing, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing key functional areas, particularly network infrastructure, server infrastructure, storage infrastructure, information security, cybersecurity, application management, data communications, telecommunications systems and help desk functions.
The IT Operations Manager also schedules and directs activities to resolve hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate fashion. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys managing multiple competing priorities and assignments, as well as having a solid understanding of general project management and accounting principles in order to support budgeting, planning and management of projects and expenses in their functional areas.
Here is what you will do on a day to day basis:
- lead, develop and grow a talented team, providing direction, support and ongoing feedback
- lead infrastructure and tech support staff
- create and define support policy and procedures
- manage and set priorities for the design, maintenance, development, evaluation, and protection of all infrastructure systems, including LANs, WANs, cloud, on-prem, Internet, intranet, and wireless implementations
- participate in planning and resource allocation meetings to set the short, medium and long-term roadmaps for IT DevOps
- develop solid business cases for presentation to executive level management
- prepare and maintain departmental budget
Here is the type of person we are looking for:
- minimum five years of direct management and/or supervisory experience with IT infrastructure and maintenance teams
- strong and thorough knowledge of Microsoft technologies both in Azure and on premise
- functional knowledge of LAN/WAN protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, SMTP & SNMP
- strong understanding of high availability and disaster recovery principles, technologies and procedures
- accomplishes tasks with a high attention to detail and pursuit of, regardless of the volume of duties encountered
- engages in regular, structured discussions with employees to encourage and improve individual employee performance and attain organizational objectives
- makes concrete, well-informed and thought-out decisions that support the overall organization, and can make quick, effective decisions even when data and details are limited
- accurately estimates duration and level of difficulty of tasks and projects; sets out goals, objectives and work plans to complete tasks and projects and determine where work needs to be delegated
- analyzes and interprets the strategic direction of the organization, with a clear and firm understanding of the vision, mission, values, and objectives of the workplace, and uses that information to develop responsibilities, tasks, goals, and initiatives that align with long-term plans and growth
