Job Description: Investor Relations Specialist

The Investor Relations Specialist (Director/VP level) acts as the crucial liaison between the Company's leadership and the investment community, including shareholders, analysts, and potential investors. Their core responsibility is to ensure clear, timely, and accurate communication of the company's financial performance, strategic direction, and overall value proposition. This role plays a vital part in building and maintaining investor trust, attracting new capital, and influencing the company's stock valuation. 

The Investor Relations Specialist will be an integral part of the Accounting & Finance function, and will actively participate in strategic and financial planning, internal and external financial reporting, quarterly and annual asset valuations, preparation of board materials, preparation of quarterly regulatory or creditor reporting, and support of strategic capital markets projects.

Key responsibilities

• Financial Reporting & Disclosure:

o Overseeing the preparation and dissemination of quarterly and annual reports, earnings releases, and other financial disclosures to ensure accuracy and compliance with SEC, GSE, HUD, etc. regulations and requirements from debt and capital market counterparties.

o Compiling key business trends and contributing to official company disclosures during the quarterly earnings process.

o Working with the accounting and legal teams to meet regulatory requirements related to investor communications, regulatory reporting requirements, internal controls, and board communications.

• Investor Communication & Engagement:

o Serving as the primary contact for investors and analysts, responding to inquiries and providing relevant information.

o Developing and updating investor presentations and materials, like board materials and investor decks.

o Organizing and coordinating investor events, such as roadshows, conferences, analyst sessions, and shareholder meetings.

o Assisting in the development of company financials, long-term strategy presentations, strategic initiative management, etc.

• Market Intelligence & Analysis:

o Monitoring shareholder activity and reporting on investor trends and sentiment. Researching and analyzing market conditions and projections, competitor intelligence, and industry media coverage.

o Conducting competitive and equity market analyses to understand the company's valuation and positioning.

o Gathering market data to attract and inform potential shareholders.

• Strategic Collaboration:

o Providing feedback and insights from the investment community to company executives and the board of directors.

o Working cross-functionally with marketing, sales, finance, and legal teams to ensure consistent messaging and align investor relations activities with broader company goals.

o Supporting the preparation of presentations for internal stakeholders, such as the board. 

Required skills and qualifications

• Education: Typically a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or communications is required. An MBA, MS-CPA or relevant certifications like CFA or CIRP can be beneficial.

• Experience: 4-7 years of experience in related fields such as finance, accounting, or communications. Experience as a financial analyst or investor relations associate.

• Strong Communication Skills: Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills are essential for effectively communicating complex financial information and building relationships with investors.

• Financial Acumen: A strong understanding of financial statements, financial analysis, capital markets, and data tools is crucial.

• Analytical & Strategic Thinking: The ability to analyze market trends, conduct research, and develop strategic investor relations plans is vital.

• Interpersonal Skills: Building rapport and maintaining relationships with diverse stakeholders, including executives, investors, and analysts, requires strong interpersonal skills.

• Compliance Knowledge: Familiarity with securities law and regulatory requirements related to investor communications is essential.

• Software Proficiency: Experience with MS Office and financial software is required. Experience with developing high-quality presentation materials, sophisticated analysis materials, and written communication.
