The Archbishops’ Council exists to co-ordinate, promote, aid and further the work and mission of the Church of England. It does this by providing national support (including financial support) to the Church in dioceses and locally, working closely with the House of Bishops and other bodies of the Church. It has a strategic overview, and a powerful vision to support the Church in its work.
We are looking to appoint a new trustee to the Council, who will also Chair the Racial Justice Board (RJB). The RJB is a committee of the Archbishops’ Council and oversees the work of the Church of England’s Racial Justice Unit in demonstrating that diversity is foundational to our faith, in encouraging and fostering racial justice, implementing the recommendations of the Archbishops’ Commission for Racial Justice and sharing best practice in this area across the Church.
We are interested in hearing from candidates who are familiar with the structure and operation of the Church of England through its dioceses and parishes, and have particular experience of and heart for racial justice. We are looking for people who are passionate about the local church and bringing the Church’s Vision and Strategy to life, and who enjoy working to make a difference.
