Overview:
When a beloved design leader we know joins Walmart to head up their People Design team, with a vision to lead with AI in designing a suite of net-new products for Walmart’s 2M+ employees, we say YES!
He’s already hired 17 world-class designers who have all relocated to Bentonville, so you’d be joining a fully-functioning, fleshed-out team to collaborate and experiment with. And, his design street cred is real: he's led a 50+ design team at a F200 insurance company, and led the innovation lab of a well-known, West-coast based tech company.
His strong vision is that AI will play a central role in this transformation, so in this role, you'll have an incredible opportunity to grow your AI expertise while designing smarter, more intuitive tools that empower people to work smarter, not harder. This is a rare opportunity to shape the future of the employee experience for one of the largest workforces in America, so your visibility and impact are REAL.
They’re “building the plane in flight”, as these are all net-new products, so the right candidate has comfort with ambiguity, a love of experimentation and innovation, and 0 to 1 build experience.
You’ll help to shape the tools that power every stage of the employee journey—from payroll and benefits to learning, development, and beyond. You’ll unify multiple complex systems into a seamless, human-centered experience that supports associates throughout their entire career lifecycle.
They’re passionate about helping people build meaningful careers—whether that means growing within the company or launching into bold new paths—with tailored skill development, immersive training, and live better programs that support both personal and professional growth.
The role:
We’re looking for a Senior Design Technologist who’s as passionate about clean, elegant code as they are about stunning, human-centered UX/UI Design.
In this role, you’ll bring ideas to life through beautiful, high-quality, “consumer-grade” UI experiences built for a workforce of millions. You’ll operate at the intersection of design and engineering—translating concepts into production-ready interfaces that are visually compelling, delightfully interactive, and technically sound.
The ideal candidate has a strong visual sensibility and a deep understanding of UI best practices, paired with the technical chops to animate and craft rich experiences directly in code. You’ll work in React, React Native and TypeScript, and bonus points if you’ve can work in Swift, too.
You’re fluent with design tools and comfortable working within design systems, yet unafraid to push boundaries when the moment calls for it. You’re curious about emerging technologies and excited about the creative potential of AI—and ready to explore how it can amplify human capability and reshape the way we build.
The location:
Bentonville, AR blends small-town charm with big-city innovation. It’s a hub for arts, tech, and outdoor adventure—home to world-class mountain biking trails, the renowned Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, and a fast-growing culinary scene.
Families will find top-rated public schools, standout charter programs, and respected private schools, making it an ideal place to live, learn, and grow.
With a low cost of living, short commutes, and stunning natural surroundings, Bentonville offers the perfect balance of quality of life and opportunity.
So, give it a second look, and the team can tell you so much more about what it's like to be there, and all the treasures Bentonville offers.
