Roles: 3 Directors of Product Design (across different teams) @ F100 InsureTech with diverse, friendly culture

Location: Hybrid onsite Tues-Thurs in NYC

Note: No visa tranfers / no relocation available at this time

Design leaders, we've got a little something for everyone! We have 3 different fulltime roles available for Directors of Product Design at a F100 insurance company which all have a slightly different flavor. If one (or more) of these feel like a match for you, we'd love to hear from you!

About the client:

Picture this - a “heart-led” and “empathy-focused” company with millions of customers, that’s also a venerable, 200-year-old, F100 InsureTech company, with incredible resources, culture, and support of their employees!

This is a place where diversity and humanity are deeply rooted values in their company culture. They have incredible benefits - including great health coverage, 6 month parental leave, 401K matching, and a pension, to name a few highlights.

They have been named one of Fortune’s “World’s Most Admired Companies”, are in the top 50 companies in Forbes’ 2024 “America’s Best Employers for Diversity”, and received a score of 100 on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s “2023-2024 Corporate Equality Index”.

They are in the midst of massive growth and expansion, both building out a bevy of 0 to 1 products as well as innovating on their legacy products, so it’s a great time to get in the door to build impactful products at a massive scale.

About these roles: First, we'll start with details that apply to all 3 roles, and then we'll get into the nitty-gritty on each one.

For all roles:

  • Location: Hybrid onsite Tues-Thurs in NYC
  • Portfolio required
  • “Player / coach” roles - all will require some degree of hands on design skill in Figma, while managing agency vendors and freelancers, driving initiatives with key stakeholders, etc.
  • Involves managing design agencies and/or contractors, and is less likely to manage an internal direct report, at least for now
  • Generous benefits include 401K match and generous pension, career development, tuition reimbursement, fertility benefits, parental benefits whether through birth, adoption, foster care, or surrogacy, wellness benefits including onsite amenities
  • Preferred backgrounds:
  • Ideally 10+ years of relevant design experience, with both B2B and B2C experience
  • InsureTech, financial services, healthcare and other highly regulated spaces
  • They’re also open to agency-side folks who have significantly worked in these sorts of companies
  • You have led design at scale (ie: Ms of users, ideally)
  • This level may be the equivalent of a Lead, Staff, Art Director, Associate Creative Director, or Design Director at other companies
  • Strong knowledge of accessibility guidelines is highly useful
  • Salary: $180,000 - $230,000 all in pay (which includes base + bonus)

And, here's a snapshot on each one:

Role 1: Director, Product Design, FieldOps (Product Design + Marketing Design mix)

  • This is a mix of Marketing Design and UX / Product Design - you’d manage the creation of end-to-end products and marketing campaigns that facilitate the successful hiring and onboarding of new financial agents to their company - net/net, it’s a b2c website, as well as a suite of tools on the backend which will require UX skills
  • They call this, “If Marketing and Human Resources had a baby” - ha! This gives you a good idea of the nature of these products - meaning, you’ll be overseeing the creation of both:
  • compelling, visually arresting marketing websites to attract and engage new potential hires

and

  • the heavy-duty UX / Product Design behind those sites - complex forms submission and progress tracking, applications, data collection, etc.
  • The ideal candidate will have both Marketing and Product Design experience, as this will combine skills in:
  • Marketing Design: websites and materials, and
  • Product Design: complex forms submission, streamlining onboarding, progress tracking, applications, data collection, licensing processes etc.
  • Will involve managing agency partners and consultants, as well as doing some hands on work yourself in Figma (approx 25% - TBD)

Role 2: Director, Product Design, Client Prospecting (Product Design on web-builder / content / CMS tools)

  • The focus is evolving two, low code / no code platforms - and the design templates that go with them - which enable our client's Agents to create their own websites and marketing assets, as well as manage the design of custom websites for VIP Agents
  • Will involve managing agency partners and consultants, as well as doing some hands on work yourself in Figma (approx 25% - TBD)
  • Desired background is experience in creating and evolving drag + drop low code / no code tools, or working in a content-heavy environment on Wordpress-like tools. (not that you've built websites in Wordpress, but rather, that you've actually built out the Wordpress-like product itself.)

Role 3: Director, Product Design, Field Productivity (Product Design and Data Visualization)

  • This role is at the intersection of Product Design + Data Visualization
  • You’ll be overseeing a design agency to create and deliver a super high-visibility tool to our client’s internal Sales Associates to enable them to meet with customers, do a “fact finding mission” for intake via complex forms, and present financial data on the fly on iPads using dashboards and data visualization to market potential offerings to clients
  • This is a completely home grown product with a lot of internal resources dedicated to it; they forsee a lot of growth here
  • Design System experience is highly desired
  • Will involve managing agency partners and consultants, as well as doing some hands on work yourself in Figma (approx 25-35% on average)

TO APPLY, apply here on our portal, or send your resume, portfolio, desired comp range, openness to Tues-Thurs onsite in NYC, and we'll get back to you if it feels like a good fit!
