BACKGROUND

 

The USA Pickleball Association, a non-profit 501(c)(3) was established in 2005 to further the advancement of the sport on a national level. As the official governing body of pickleball in the United States, USA Pickleball promotes the growth of pickleball by maintaining the rules, setting player ratings, advancing the sport through its national network of 1,800+ ambassadors, and sanctioning tournaments. Since 2013, USA Pickleball membership has grown 1,250% in its membership to more than 80,000.


SUMMARY

 

The Vice President of Membership Development & Service is a senior position at USAP. The role is responsible for developing and implementing strategic plans to increase membership sales as well as improve membership satisfaction and retention. This person will be responsible for continually refreshing a membership framework that drives membership numbers, sanctioned event participation and overall support of USA Pickleball.


RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES


  • Creation and execution of overall membership growth strategy
  • Responsible for maximizing member retention rates
  • Lead efforts of membership sales and member service needs
  • Lead efforts of driving sanctioned tournaments
  • Lead efforts of initiating USAP leagues and partnering with other league opportunities
  • Establish sales targets and goals for the membership department and ensure they are achieved or exceeded
  • Lead the management of the organization’s CRM and analytics
  • Collaborate with CMO to create and execute effective marketing campaigns to promote membership benefits and attract new members
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless member experiences across all touchpoints
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the organization's membership offerings and benefits
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices in membership sales and service
  • Analyze membership data and metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement appropriate strategies
  • Provide regular reports and updates on membership sales and service activities to the executive team
  • Represent the organization at industry events, conferences, and trade shows to promote membership and expand the network
  • Stay informed about competitor activities and market trends to maintain a competitive edge in membership sales
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable rules, regulations, and policies related to membership sales and service
  • Continuously evaluate and enhance the membership sales and service processes to drive efficiency and effectiveness
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that encourages teamwork and professional growth within the organization
  • Persuade potential stakeholders and members on the benefits of being a part of USAP
  • Effectively use data and KPI’s information to drive decision making
  • Other duties as assigned


QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Possess a results-driven mentality and can be motivated by achieving and exceeding sales targets; experience in a sales and service climate, with strong negotiating abilities and enthusiasm for organizational growth
  • Excellent communication skills; effectively communicating with internal team and outside stakeholders including current and potential USAP members
  • Customer service orientation; leading and providing positive experiences for members and stakeholders
  • Knowledge of membership programs; familiarizing yourself with various membership programs and being able to proactively develop membership plans
  • Experience with creating and/or operating sporting leagues
  • Having strong organizational and time management skills
  • Having strong budgetary, P&L management and general financial acumen
  • Knowledge of CRM systems
  • Able to create, promote and operate in a teamwork and collaborative atmosphere
  • Flexibility and adaptability; able to be comfortable and successful in a dynamic and changing business environment
  • Ten plus years of applicable work experience, preferably in governing bodies or sports and entertainment, with a focus on membership sales, service, and retention
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite including Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word
