In addition to owning and operating three professional ice hockey teams, OEG Inc. owns Win 50 which operates live in-venue and online electronic 50/50 raffles systems at numerous events benefitting several charities and non-profit organizations including the industry-leading Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation.

 

SUMMARY

 

Reporting to the President & COO, Rogers Place & ICE District, the SVP, Business Operations – ICE District acts as a strategic partner and brings a clear path forward regarding the current and future requirements of all evolving OEG venues.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Develops and leads a high performing team to further the achievement of organizational goals, through clear assignments of accountability to Department Heads.
  • Act as an effective and proactive senior leadership team member.
  • Provides support to President & COO, Rogers Place & Ice District on key initiatives, projects, and priorities.
  • Ensure strategic initiatives are in line with OEG’s mission, vision, and values.
  • Attract and retain outstanding talent as well as build and motivate high performance teams.
  • Oversees ICE District operations, in conjunction with the property management provider.
  • Oversees Plaza and Fan Park operations, in conjunction with the OEGSE event operations and EOCF/Hockey Engagement groups.
  • Aggressively promotes the use of the facility to maximize the utilization of all event spaces and negotiates lease agreements as determined necessary and in the best interests of the facility.
  • Responsible for vetting, maintaining, and contracting all ICE District vendor agreements.
  • Provides or coordinates for timely and effective response to directives and requests received from internal and external organizations, agencies, departments and individuals.
  • Consult with, advise and provide recommendations with respect to the design functional analysis, profit analysis and FF&E analysis.


ICE DISTRICT SHARED FACILITIES OPERATIONS


  • Oversight and coordination of the property management provider for ICE District Shared Facilities operational duties and responsibilities for, on behalf of the ICE District Coordinator
  • Collaboration, with OEG Inc. Asset Management, on cross-functional responsibilities with Event Operations and oversight of OEG operations of the following group & venues:


  • ICE District Plaza
  • ICE District Central Parkade (IDCP)
  • Connect Centre
  • ICE District Pedway network
  • ICE District Loading Dock
  • ICE District Block K
  • ICE District Fan Park
  • MacDonald Heritage Building

 

  • Participates and provides input on the development of the annual budgets for ICE Plaza, ICE District Central Parkade, Connect Centre, ICE District Loading Dock, Pedways, and Block K.
  • Reviews annual shared facilities budget and expenses monthly in conjunction with OEGSE, ONE Properties and ICE District stakeholders, as required.
  • Serves as the OEGSE observer at ICE District property, operations & building owner meetings.
  • Identifies opportunities for operational improvements in the ICE District operational portfolio.
  • Oversight of the public realm infrastructure maintenance and repairs in ICE District (specific to non-digital assets).
  • Supports and collaborates with Venue Operations/Production Systems & Services in the repair and maintenance of campus digital assets, as required.
  • Serves as OEG tenant liaison and main contact for Block K, Connect Centre, ICE District Plaza with ONE Property Management.
  • Serves as OEG tenant liaison and main contact for Fan Park & MacDonald Building with Avison Young Property Management.


BUSINESS OPERATIONS


  • Build the annual budgeting and expense tracking for all expenditures related to OEGSE HQ and business operations-related activities.
  • Oversight of the OEG and Rogers Place office spaces and related office services.
  • Oversight of the review process of all OEG policies and business procedures annually.
  • Leads the resource allocation for special projects and expansion of OEGSE investments, as assigned by President & COO, Rogers Place and ICE District.
  • Business operations representative for the full-time employee on-boarding program.
  • Supports the risk management associated with the business operations of OEGSE.


ICE DISTRICT PARKING


  • Oversight of the parking operations and logistics, including the parking management provider relationship on behalf of OEGSE.
  • Oversight of event parking technology used to enable and improve the customer event journey.
  • Communications conduit of OEGSE programs and initiatives to the ICE District stakeholders.
  • Works closely with Director, Fan Experience, Security & Parking at OEGSE

 

SPECIAL PROJECTS


  • Heritage Building assessment and feasibility study for future use.
  • MMMP management for ICE District assets.


ADDITIONAL DELIVERABLES


  • Performs additional duties as assigned from time to time by President & COO, Rogers Place & ICE District.

Education, Experience and Skills:


  • Degree required or any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from accredited college or university or any other combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Degree in Business or Sports Management preferred.
  • Experience/knowledge of overseeing all aspects of the operation of a major professional multi-purpose facility is required.
  • Must have proven track record of developing and managing budgets.
  • 7-10 years of experience supervising management level and line level employees.
  • Proactive and resourceful with an ability to “make things happen”.
  • Good balance of creative/communications instincts and logical, analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated track record in forging relationships with community assets, including Convention and Visitors Bureaus, Chambers of Commerce, and local boards of directors. Active business community involvement.
  • Must have event sales & marketing experience.
  • Experience in supervising food and beverage operation experience preferred.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays in addition to normal business hour, as needed.
  • Perform additional duties at Rogers Place and/or as required by senior management.
