Director of Finance

Location: Cleveland, OH (Hybrid)

Compensation: $140,000 – $160,000

Reports to: Executive Leadership

Direct Reports: 1 Accounting Support Staff

About the Role

We are a growing, service-based firm providing finance and insurance solutions to our clients. We are seeking a hands-on Director of Finance to own the full finance and accounting function end-to-end. This role blends strategic financial leadership with day-to-day accounting oversight.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Leadership & Strategy

- Serve as the senior financial leader for the organization, partnering closely with executive leadership

- Provide financial insights, analysis, reporting, and recommendations to support business decisions

- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management

- Develop and monitor KPIs and financial dashboards

Accounting & Controls

- Oversee all accounting operations including general ledger, AP/AR, payroll, and month-end close

- Ensure accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with GAAP

- Establish and maintain internal controls, policies, and procedures

- Coordinate with external partners (CPA firm, auditors, tax advisors)

Operations & Oversight

- Manage and mentor one finance/accounting support team member

- Oversee insurance-related financial processes and compliance as applicable

- Improve and streamline financial systems and workflows

- Own vendor relationships related to finance, accounting, and payroll

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or MBA a plus)

- 8–12+ years of progressive experience in accounting and finance

- Prior experience owning the full financial function in a small or mid-sized organization

- Experience in professional services, finance, insurance, or regulated environments preferred

- Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
