Job Summary:
Staff accountants are essential members of the accounting team who are responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and supporting day-to-day accounting operations. They assist with general ledger maintenance, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and month-end close processes. This role requires strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and a solid understanding of accounting principles.
Essential Functions:
- Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring accurate financial reporting.
- Reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts on a regular basis.
- Lead month- and year-end close processes, including accruals, adjustments, and fixed assets.
- Maintain and update financial records in compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
- Create and support the preparation of internal and external financial reports.
- Prepare sales tax and CAT tax reports for Controller review.
- Support Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functionality.
- Collaborate with other departments to gather financial data and resolve discrepancies.
- Assist with review by providing documentation and responding to inquiries.
- Monitor and analyze accounting data to identify trends, variances or areas for improvement.
- All other duties as assigned.
Competencies or Experience Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in accounting, financial analysis, or related field.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial concepts.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong experience with financial software systems.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in all work activities.
Education Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
