Director of Finance and Human Resources
This is a hands-on leadership role for a proactive, business-minded professional who enjoys solving problems, improving systems, and helping a professional services firm grow.
We are seeking someone who takes ownership, improves processes, and supports accountability while working closely with firm leadership.
This role plays a key part in strengthening the firm’s internal infrastructure as we continue to grow.
Position Overview
The Director of Finance and HR will be responsible for the firm’s internal financial operations, reporting, and HR administration.
This is a hands-on position. The right candidate must be comfortable both executing day-to-day responsibilities and thinking strategically about improvements.
You will work directly with the firm’s partners and leadership team.
Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Leadership
- Own the firm’s monthly internal financial statements
- Manage the billing workflow, including final release of invoices to clients
- Manage accounts receivable, WIP, realization, and collections
- Process payroll and manage accounts payable, including Bill.com
- Manage cash flow forecasting and banking relationships
- Prepare and present monthly financial reporting to partners
- Monitor and help improve key firm KPIs
- Identify inefficiencies and implement process improvements
- Strengthen internal financial controls and reporting systems
Human Resources Leadership
- Serve as the firm’s primary HR contact
- Lead onboarding and offboarding processes
- Oversee benefits administration and annual renewals
- Maintain HR compliance and employee documentation
- Coordinate the firm’s performance review process
- Address employee performance concerns and related documentation
- Enforce firm policies and expectations
- Work with fractional HR support when needed
Skills and Competencies
- Strong accounting and financial reporting skills
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Experience with QuickBooks (Desktop and Online)
- Experience managing accounts receivable and cash flow
- Experience with HR administration and benefits oversight
- Strong problem-solving and process improvement mindset
- Comfortable learning and implementing new systems and technology
- Strong communication skills and ability to work directly with leadership
- Ability to handle confidential matters professionally
Qualifications
- 7–15 years of accounting experience
- Experience in a professional services firm preferred
- Strong experience with financial reporting and cash flow management
- Business-minded and growth-oriented
- Comfortable working independently and holding others accountable
- Ability to communicate effectively with partners, staff, and vendors
CPA preferred but not required
