Intermediate Accountant


Location: Vancouver, BC (Full-Time, In-Office)

About the Role

We’re looking for an Intermediate Accountant to join our growing finance team. This is a full-time, in-office role based in Vancouver. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting daily accounting operations with a focus on audit readiness, month-end close, and managing high-volume transactional accounting. You’ll work closely with our CFO and play a key role in ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and financial compliance as we scale.


Key Responsibilities


Accounts Payable & Receivable

  • Manage high-volume invoice processing, including PO matching, coding, and vendor communication
  • Oversee weekly payment runs and vendor ledger reconciliations
  • Assist with AR invoicing, payment tracking, and follow-ups
  • Reconcile AR/AP subledgers to the general ledger


Month-End Close & Reporting

  • Prepare and post journal entries (payroll accruals, amortizations, prepaids, etc.)
  • Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly
  • Assist in preparation of financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow)
  • Generate month-end supporting schedules and account reconciliations


Audit Support

  • Prepare audit-ready documentation and working papers
  • Support interim and year-end external audits by providing reconciliations, schedules, and backup
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies in account activity as part of audit prep


Tax & Compliance

  • Assist with GST/PST filings and other regulatory reporting
  • Support tracking and remittance of payroll taxes and T4 filings


Other

  • Support financial process improvements and implementation of controls
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure accurate financial data
  • Take initiative in solving problems and improving workflow


Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of accounting experience in high-volume environments, preferably mid-sized or enterprise organizations
  • Exposure to audit preparation or experience working in public practice or during external audits
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and month-end processes
  • Proficient with QuickBooks Online and Excel (pivot tables, lookups, etc.)
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in financial data
  • Excellent communication and time management skills
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative, and evolving environment


Bonus Points For:

  • Experience in the healthcare, wellness, or tech sectors
  • Familiarity with tools like Bill.com, BambooHR, Avalara, or similar
  • Working toward a CPA designation (not required)
