Our client is seeking a dynamic, hands-on Chief Executive Officer to lead the launch of a new catastrophe-exposed property insurance carrier. This role offers a unique opportunity to design and execute a cutting-edge carrier that will leverage technology to innovate risk management and distribution within the E&S property insurance market. The ideal candidate will combine visionary leadership with hands-on execution to drive scalable, profitable growth while navigating the complexities of the insurance industry.

Responsibilities

• Carrier Formation and Launch - Secure capital by working with investors and brokers, presenting a clear growth roadmap; develop and execute a cost-effective reinsurance strategy aligned with the carrier’s risk appetite; and oversee the licensing process across targeted states, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Strategic Leadership - Act as the public face of the carrier, establishing credibility with external stakeholders; integrate innovative technology, such as algorithmic underwriting and real-time portfolio management, into carrier operations; and build strategies to enter and scale in catastrophe-exposed E&S markets.
• Team and Organizational Development - Recruit and onboard key executive leadership roles to establish a high-performing team; and collaborate with advisors and investors to align on strategic decisions and growth initiatives.

Qualifications

• 15–20+ years of experience in the insurance industry, focusing on catastrophe-exposed property insurance.
• Proven track record of standing up or scaling an insurance carrier, with expertise in E&S property.
• Strong background in reinsurance structuring, financial modeling, and risk management.
• Comprehensive understanding of regulatory frameworks and carrier licensing processes.
• Demonstrated leadership in dynamic, high-growth environments; startup experience is a plus.
• Familiarity with leveraging technology for underwriting and operational innovation.
