The Institute for Government is the UK’s leading independent think tank working to make government better through in-depth research and analysis, open discussion and fresh thinking.

We work with all political parties and with civil servants in Westminster and across the UK to improve the capability of government, providing new, evidence-based ideas through research, events and leadership development.

We are in the exciting position of recruiting for a trio of senior roles to help lead the Institute into the next phase of its existence, including a new Executive Director of Research and Innovation to help drive forward our strategic aim of making UK government better.

In this high-profile role, you will shape and deliver our research and innovation strategy at board level, while acting as a credible figurehead for the Institute in the media and with senior stakeholders. You will lead and inspire our research teams, ensuring rigour, creativity and impact across everything we do, and will build influential relationships across government, the public sector, politics, academia and beyond. Alongside providing strategic direction, you will promote innovation in our research methods, including overseeing  the Institute’s use of new technologies and AIand maintain your own area of research expertise.

We are looking for an exceptional leader with deep knowledge of UK government and policy processes, proven experience of contributing to strategy at board level, and a strong track record of working with senior political and official stakeholders. You will bring creativity, rigour and excellent interpersonal skills, enabling and supporting talented teams while developing high-impact external partnerships. Above all, you will share our belief in the power of good government to improve lives.

The role is full time role with a salary of £120,000 per annum.
