As Stratford East celebrates its 140th year, we’re looking for an outstanding new Chair to take the reins from Dame Margaret Hodge, who is stepping down to lead the independent review into Arts Council England.

From bold reimagining of the classics to bringing new voices and writing to the stage, we bring theatre to life in ways that reflect and shape the world around us.

In 2025, Lisa Spirling and Hanna Streeter will join Stratford East as Artistic Director and Executive Director. With their exceptional leadership at Theatre503 and The Orange Tree, they’re set to spark a thrilling new era of creativity and they will work hand-in-hand with our next Chair to drive it forward.

We’re looking for a Chair to be an inspirational leader, someone who will champion our mission and work to secure our long-term sustainability. You will amplify Stratford East’s role as a vital civic and cultural force in East London.
