Southbank Centre is Europe’s largest arts centre and one of the UK’s most important cultural institutions. Occupying an 11-acre site on London’s South Bank, we welcome 11 million visitors a year, present more than 3,300 events, over half of them free, and support over 8,000 artists across our venues, festivals, and public spaces. Rooted in the democratic spirit of the 1951 Festival of Britain, we exist to bring people together through bold, distinctive and accessible cultural experiences.

We are now seeking to appoint up to three new Governors to join our Board.

This is a particularly exciting moment, as we mark our 75th anniversary with a landmark programme exploring what the arts centre of the future can and should be. It is an opportunity to contribute to the future of a major national institution at a point of real momentum, helping to shape an organisation whose responsibilities span creative excellence, public impact, commercial strength, financial resilience and long-term stewardship of an iconic cultural estate.

You will bring sound judgement, strategic perspective, and the ability to support and challenge in equal measure. Working closely with the Chair, Board, and Executive team, you will contribute to effective governance and thoughtful decision-making, while also acting as an engaged advocate for Southbank Centre and our ambitions.

We are particularly interested in candidates with senior-level experience of commercial leadership and business transformation; Government; or technology and digital. A clear commitment to arts and culture is essential, alongside the credibility to engage confidently with a wide range of stakeholders. Ideally you will bring previous Board experience.

We are committed to building a Board that reflects the diversity of our audiences and communities.
