The Institute for Government is the UK’s leading independent think tank working to make government better through in-depth research and analysis, open discussion and fresh thinking.
We work with all political parties and with civil servants in Westminster and across the UK to improve the capability of government, providing new, evidence-based ideas through research, events and leadership development.
We are in the exciting position of recruiting for a trio of senior roles to help lead the Institute into the next phase of its existence, including a new Executive Director of Impact and Influence to lead our impact strategy, shape our external engagement and champion our role as a trusted voice in public life.
Working closely with the Director and the Board, you will take personal responsibility for how we achieve impact, ensuring our work influences debate and decision-making at the highest levels. As a visible and authoritative figurehead for the Institute, you will represent us in the media and with senior stakeholders, inspiring innovation and creativity in our approaches, and building the external relationships that allow us to achieve our organisational goals, including generating funding. You will coordinate the Institute’s response to key opportunities to shape the agenda – from general elections and party conferences to major external events – and will strengthen our capacity to evaluate and grow our impact.
We are looking for a senior leader with demonstrable expertise in driving influence and impact, and with experience of contributing at board level to organisational strategy and development. With a creative and entrepreneurial approach, you will be adept at leading and working across highly committed research, communications and partnerships teams, while building and sustaining the high-level external relationships that matter most.
You will bring a deep understanding of UK government, proven experience of engaging with very senior political and official stakeholders, and a strong instinct for shaping policy agendas in ways that maximise influence. Above all, you will share our belief in the potential of good government, how it can be better, and how it can improve lives.
The role is full time role with a salary of £120,000 per annum.
