Oxfam GB (OGB) is looking for a new Chief Influencing Officer to lead OGB’s influencing functions across England, Scotland and Wales, with overall responsibility for policy and campaign strategy development and stakeholder and political risk management.
As a core part of OGB’s Strategic Leadership Team, our Chief Influencing Officer will lead the development of a long-term strategy for this new division, looking at how both the division and OGB as a whole can best achieve major shifts in policy and practice to tackle the root causes of poverty and suffering in the world. Similarly, this position and division will play a central role in OGB’s position in our ecosystem, ensuring that we are supporting the sector towards more locally led development and to strengthen national civil society, underpinned by global solidarity.
This is a significant leadership position reporting into the CEO, overseeing pillars of Climate Justice, Gender Justice, Humanitarian Influencing, Safe Programming and Research, and Scotland and Wales teams. Overseeing OGB’s relationships with UK politicians and institutions, our Chief Influencing Officer will ensure that we collaborate internally and present a united front externally. You will also be a key steward of our culture, working with colleagues to ensure we uphold organisational values and are a collaborative, supportive, and inclusive work environment where diverse perspectives are valued.
We are looking for proven skills in leading successful political advocacy and/or public campaign strategies, ideally influencing both UK and international audiences. The postholder, alongside colleagues like our CEO, as appropriate, will act as a key spokesperson for Oxfam GB, and we would value a strong track record in media and public speaking. We are also looking for an experienced organisational leader who can play a key role in developing a new division within a complex, multidisciplinary organisation. Importantly, we will look to identify an alignment with our principles of feminist leadership.
