Position Overview
We are seeking a Tier 3 Projects Engineer to design, implement, and support complex infrastructure and networking projects across client environments. This is a project-focused, hands-on engineering role that includes both project delivery and escalation-level troubleshooting across networking, servers, cloud, and virtualization platforms. The ideal candidate is technically strong, organized, and comfortable working independently while collaborating with a broader project team.
What You’ll Do
- Lead infrastructure and networking projects from discovery through implementation, testing, documentation, and handoff
- Install and configure physical networking equipment (switches, routers, firewalls, wireless, cabling)
- Troubleshoot complex Layer 2/3 network issues including:
- VLANs, trunking, STP
- Routing, NAT, VPNs
- DHCP, DNS
- Implement and support server and core infrastructure:
- Compute, storage, identity, backups, monitoring
- Design and deploy virtualization environments (VMware, Hyper-V, clusters, storage integration)
- Execute cloud and hybrid migrations:
- On-prem to cloud
- Cloud-to-cloud (Azure, Entra, Google)
- Coordinate maintenance windows, cutovers, and client communications
- Create and maintain documentation (diagrams, configs, runbooks, knowledge transfer)
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to standards and repeatable processes
What You Bring
- 5+ years in network/infrastructure engineering (projects, implementation, advanced troubleshooting)
- Proven hands-on experience in production environments
Technical Expertise
- Strong TCP/IP networking fundamentals
- Deep understanding of:
- DNS, DHCP, VPNs, firewalling
- LAN/WAN infrastructure
- Virtualization experience:
- VMware vSphere, Hyper-V, clustering, storage integration
- Cloud and hybrid environments:
- Azure / AWS connectivity
- Security best practices
- Ability to install, configure, and troubleshoot physical networking equipment
Certifications (Required or Equivalent Experience)
- CCNA (or equivalent experience)
- Microsoft Server / Microsoft 365 / Azure certifications (or equivalent)
- CompTIA certifications (Server+, Network+, Security+) or equivalent
Additional Skills & Physical Requirements
- Scripting/automation (PowerShell, Bash, or similar)
- Strong communication skills (technical and non-technical audiences)
- Ability to lift up to ~50 lbs (servers, switches, UPS units)
- Ability to work in IDF/MDF or data center environments
- Ability to stand, bend, and perform rack/stack and cabling work
