Commercial Sitework Estimator

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Commercial Sitework Estimator to join our team. This role is responsible for analyzing plans, specifications, and other project documents to prepare accurate cost estimates for large-scale commercial sitework projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in site development, excavation, utilities, grading, paving, and stormwater management.


You Will:


  • Review and interpret civil construction drawings, specifications, and related documents.
  • Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for all phases of site work including but not limited to:
  • Earthwork
  • Grading
  • Excavation
  • Utility installation (water, sewer, storm)
  • Curb & gutter
  • Asphalt & concrete paving
  • Erosion control and stormwater systems
  • Solicit and evaluate quotes from subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Work with project teams to coordinate and create takeoffs for various types of construction projects
  • Review project documents, plans, and specifications to identify material and labor requirements
  • Utilize takeoff software to determine quantities of materials, labor, and equipment needed for a project
  • Prepare accurate estimates for sitework and utility projects
  • Assist with budget analysis for project materials and labor
  • Assist in the preparation of estimates and bids for projects
  • Provide technical support to project teams when needed
  • Perform quantity take-offs using software tools and manual methods.
  • Develop project budgets, bid proposals, and scope sheets.
  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors during pre-construction.
  • Participate in bid reviews and project hand-offs.
  • Maintain and update estimating databases, unit costs, and historical pricing.
  • Track market trends, material costs, and labor rates to ensure competitiveness.
  • Conduct site visits when necessary to assess conditions and verify scope.


You Have:

  • 3+ years of experience in sitework/civil construction estimating for large-scale ($10M+) commercial projects.
  • Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Estimating software experience (e.g., HCSS HeavyBid, Trimble Business Center, On-Screen Takeoff, PlanSwift, or similar)
  • Prior experience with a Computer-Aided Design (CAD) systems
  • Strong understanding of civil/sitework plans and specifications
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Strong communication and negotiation abilities, with the capability to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues
  • Ability to manage multiple estimates with competing deadlines
  • Knowledge of local permitting, zoning, and regulatory requirements is a plus
  • Valid driver's license and ability to visit project sites if needed
