ACAS Engineer - Senior

We are seeking a Senior ACAS Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and optimization of Tenable/Nessus/ACAS in both unclassified and classified DoD environments. This senior-level role is part of a new team supporting DMDC. You will play a key role in rebuilding scan zones, interpreting vulnerability results, and mentoring junior ACAS team members.

This is a hybrid position based at the Mark Center, with on-site work (2–3 days/week) required for SIPR access.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the engineering, deployment, and management of Tenable/Nessus/ACAS solutions.
  • Collaborate with system administrators, security engineers, and leadership across classified/unclassified environments.
  • Rebuild scan zones and contribute to architecture design and server configuration.
  • Configure systems for compliance with DoD standards (STIGs, FISMA, FIPS).
  • Develop and maintain:
  • Scan policies and zones
  • Dashboards and metrics
  • Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Interpret scan results and provide remediation recommendations.
  • Generate technical/functional reports and contribute to risk management packages.
  • Support system maintenance and respond to cybersecurity incidents.
  • Train and manage a small team of junior ACAS support engineers.
  • Prepare slide decks and email communications related to scan/report data.


Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience with Tenable/Nessus/ACAS in DoD environments.
  • Active Secret (Tier 3) security clearance.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills — must be comfortable interfacing with IT Ops and leadership.
  • Experience with:
  • Designing and administering ACAS/Nessus solutions
  • Building and interpreting dashboards
  • Scan zone configuration and rebuilding
  • STIGs, FISMA, FIPS compliance
  • Risk and incident response documentation
  • Previous team leadership or mentoring experience.
  • Ability to draft technical documentation and communicate effectively via email and presentation slides.


Preferred Skills

  • Prior experience in Zero Trust architecture.
  • Familiarity with cloud and hybrid environments (on-prem + classified cloud).
  • Experience navigating legacy system transitions within DoD or federal programs.
