Senior Mechanical Engineer – Drive Full-Cycle Space Hardware Development!

Camarillo, CA | Onsite

Opportunity Summary

Join a fast-paced engineering team at a growing technology company that designs and delivers advanced RF electronics and passive components for space-based communication systems. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will take full ownership of product design, simulation, analysis, and prototyping for mission-critical satellite payload hardware. This is a hands-on role where you’ll contribute directly to new space hardware programs, supporting the entire lifecycle from concept through qualification and delivery. You’ll work closely with RF and PCB engineers, own mechanical packaging challenges, and develop designs that survive the harshest launch and orbital environments.

About Us

We are a California-based company developing cutting-edge hardware for aerospace and defense customers worldwide. Our teams design, qualify, manufacture, test, and deliver all hardware from our in-house facilities, giving engineers the rare ability to own projects end-to-end. With growing demand across multiple programs, we’re expanding our engineering team to push the boundaries of performance and reliability in space-based communications.

Job Duties

  • Own the complete lifecycle of mechanical hardware, from concept through delivery.
  • Perform structural, thermal, and environmental analyses to ensure survival through launch and on-orbit conditions.
  • Lead CAD modeling, simulations, and FEA analysis (SolidWorks preferred).
  • Rapidly prototype and iterate designs in a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Collaborate with RF engineers to support packaging and integration of microwave assemblies.
  • Partner with PCB designers to address layout, vibration, and thermal requirements of complex PCAs.
  • Support qualification testing and ensure compliance with aerospace and industry standards.
  • Provide clear documentation and contribute to continuous improvement of internal processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (or related field).
  • 5+ years of mechanical or electromechanical design and analysis experience.
  • Strong CAD and FEA background (SolidWorks preferred).
  • Proficient in GD&T principles.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to thrive in a collaborative environment.

Preferred Experience

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
  • 8+ years of mechanical engineering experience in aerospace, preferably with electronics or microwave packaging for space applications.
  • Familiarity with CNC machining and other precision, low-volume manufacturing methods.
  • Experience owning designs from concept through qualification and production.
  • Proficiency in rapid prototyping and iteration.
  • Experience with microwave assemblies or high-frequency electronics packaging.
  • Prior work with PCA design and integration (thermal management, vibration mitigation, mechanical packaging).

Why Join Us

  • Ability to own product designs end-to-end in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Access to cutting-edge technologies across multiple programs.
  • Equity options with long-term growth potential.
  • Competitive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision.
  • Strong PTO policy and paid holidays.
  • 9/80 work schedule supporting work-life balance.
  • 401(k) program with company match.
  • Culture built on innovation, collaboration, and technical excellence.
