Utility Careers is partnering with a forward-thinking Queensland based infrastructure authority to recruit a Project Governance & Assurance Lead. This Mount Isa based role has been created to strengthen reporting, cost control, and delivery assurance across a growing capital works program that spans water treatment, distribution, and energy transmission infrastructure.
Working closely with the General Manager – Capital Projects and senior leadership, this position plays a vital role in establishing project governance frameworks, managing financial oversight, and delivering actionable insights across the capital portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead CAPEX forecasting, cost tracking, and reporting across multi-year capital infrastructure projects.
- Develop and manage performance dashboards tracking budget, schedule, and delivery metrics using project management software and other tools.
- Implement governance processes to support risk management, stage-gate reviews, audit readiness, and reporting compliance.
- Support the rollout and configuration of project software tools across project delivery teams.
- Provide accurate variance analysis, invoice approvals, and change control processes aligned with internal procurement policies.
- Collaborate across engineering, finance, procurement, and legal teams to support integrated project delivery.
- Act as a key contributor to regulatory reporting and strategic investment planning.
About You
This is a hands-on role for a commercially minded governance and reporting professional who enjoys structure, systems, and bringing clarity to complex infrastructure programs. You are confident navigating between technical teams and executives, and you bring a mindset that’s both analytical and solutions focused.
Ideal candidates will have:
- Strong experience in project controls, commercial analysis, or governance within capital-intensive sectors (utilities, infrastructure, local government, etc).
- Proven ability to build and manage dashboards, financial models, and performance reporting frameworks.
- Knowledge of project software platforms, particularly Monday.com or similar.
- Experience working within regulated or publicly funded environments.
- Degree-qualified in Business, Finance, Engineering, or Project Management (CPA, PMP, or equivalent highly regarded).
- High attention to detail and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
