The Source and Recruit Company has been exclusively retained to support Vermont Mechanical in the search for a Refrigeration Lead Installer / Startup Technician to join their high-performing team. All inquiries will be handled in confidence.

This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled refrigeration professional to take the lead in installing and commissioning commercial refrigeration and HVAC systems. The role includes overseeing field installations, mentoring junior installers, and ensuring that every project meets the highest standards for safety, quality, and compliance.

Refrigeration Installation & Commissioning
Install line sets, branch boxes, indoor/outdoor units, and all components for one-to-one, multi-head, and VRF/VRV systems.
Execute proper brazing, nitrogen purging, pressure testing, triple evacuations, and system charging.
Perform full system startups, verifying refrigerant levels, airflow, and performance.
Maintain accurate documentation for all installations and startups.
Leadership, Training & Quality Control
Mentor and support junior installers, promoting skill development and consistency.
Review team members’ work for quality, safety, and accuracy.
Coordinate installation sequences, materials, and layout for efficient execution.
Collaborate with project managers, engineering teams, and customers on project updates and startup results.
Safety & Compliance
Adhere to all company safety protocols and OSHA guidelines.
Comply with EPA 608 standards and manufacturer specifications.
Maintain all tools, equipment, and company vehicles in safe working condition.
Required
EPA 608 Certification (Type II or Universal)
3+ years of hands-on experience with refrigeration or VRF/VRV system installation
Proven brazing skills with nitrogen purging
Ability to manage installation of refrigeration line sets
Experience in system evacuations, pressure testing, and charging
Skilled in executing and documenting system startups
Strong mentorship and leadership abilities
Valid driver’s license with a clean record
Preferred
Manufacturer certifications (Daikin, Mitsubishi, LG, Fujitsu, etc.)
Background in commercial HVAC or mechanical contracting
Ability to interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and schematics
Competitive hourly wage: $30–$40/hour, with overtime opportunities
