Position Overview
Neagley & Chase Construction Company is seeking an experienced Project Superintendent to join its growing field operations team. This individual will play a key leadership role across all phases of construction—from pre-construction planning through project completion—ensuring work is delivered safely, on schedule, and to the highest standards of quality.
This opportunity is ideal for a construction professional who thrives in a hands-on environment and has experience managing projects ranging from approximately $5M to $25M. The role offers exposure to a diverse portfolio including ground-up construction, tenant fit-ups, and multi-family developments.
Superintendents are supported by engaged leadership, experienced Project Managers, and a talented group of Project Engineers, creating a collaborative environment focused on project success.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all on-site construction activities from pre-construction through project closeout
- Collaborate during pre-construction on project planning, logistics, and scheduling
- Manage day-to-day field operations, including subcontractors, vendors, and company personnel
- Maintain and drive project schedules, proactively addressing challenges and delays
- Ensure strict adherence to safety standards and promote a strong safety culture on-site
- Oversee quality control to ensure all work meets project specifications and expectations
- Coordinate effectively with Project Managers, engineers, and internal stakeholders
- Utilize construction management tools including Procore, Microsoft Project, and Bluebeam
- Supervise and direct field staff (typically 3–6 employees), while partnering with leadership on staffing decisions
- Maintain clear communication across all project stakeholders
Qualifications
- Minimum of six years of experience in commercial construction, with Superintendent-level responsibilities preferred
- Experience managing projects in the $5M–$25M range strongly preferred
- Ground-up construction experience is a plus
- Experience with tenant fit-ups and/or multi-family projects is a plus
- Proficiency in interpreting complex construction documents, drawings, and specifications
- Strong scheduling experience and familiarity with project scheduling tools
- Experience with construction management software such as Procore, Microsoft Project, and Bluebeam
- Solid understanding of all phases of construction, including MEP systems
- Demonstrated leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities
- Strong commitment to job site safety; OSHA 30 certification preferred
Work Environment & Travel
- Typical job site hours are 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, with flexibility based on project needs
- Extended hours may be required during peak construction periods, particularly in summer months
- Projects are primarily located within a 1.5–2 hour radius of South Burlington, VT (Enfield, NH to St. Johnsbury to Middlebury)
- Most projects allow for daily return home, with occasional exceptions
