Senior Project Manager

Summary

Sr. Project Manager is responsible for planning and executing projects including guiding charter development, plans, schedules, and communication. Manages and drives ongoing project activities from initiation through analysis, development, testing and implementation, and closure.

Responsible for projects with moderate to large scope, usually cross-functional with significant interdependencies covering multiple processes and systems across business functions. Projects

May present issues requiring facilitation by collaboration and influence among management, with significant business risks of delay or unplanned costs.

 

Planning

Works with project owners, stakeholders and management to create a project charter with objectives, scope, deliverables and benefits/outcomes.

Identifies risk factors and creates risk-management plan.

Identifies required resources and creates resource plan.

Identifies project costs to develop budget. Leads ROI analysis with stakeholders. Manages budget approval process.

Presents to project team, project owner, and sponsors.

Makes project planning support requests directly to project owner and/or management

 

Initiation

Creates a project kickoff presentation and communicates a comprehensive charter, a concise business case, timeline, and risks for the project to all subteams and stakeholders.

Ensures all subteam leaders have clarified roles and responsibilities for their team members.

Creates a project/workplan/dashboard.

Creates a communication and coordination plan with all sub-teams.

 

Execution

Manages the overall project team, and one or more subteams.

Facilitates a variety of team meetings, including weekly updates, sessions to resolve issues, and project reviews.

Holds sub-team leaders and team members accountable and provides corrective feedback when necessary.

Regularly updates executive sponsor and other senior-level managers who represent stakeholder groups on schedule, issues, and budget performance.

Works to resolve complex issues independently, and, when necessary, seeks the assistance of executive sponsor.

 

Communications Management

Keeps executive sponsors informed with regular updates.

Ensures sub-team leaders and team members are regularly informed about scope changes and other issues.

Periodically leads extended team project reviews.

Creates a method for keeping stakeholders across the enterprise regularly informed of project progress, using a variety of technologies and communication methods.

 

Cost Control

Tracks and manages project costs to budget.

Measures cost variance for enterprise project costs with rollup from multiple sub-teams.

Works with executive sponsors to strategize variances.

 

Risk Management

Controls risk management process across multiple sub-teams for enterprise level projects.
