 Senior Claims Specialist – Disaster Recovery

Location: New Mexico

Job Type: Contract

Reports To: Project and Program Manager

Travel Requirement: Up to 75% travel required, including to disaster-affected areas.

Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Senior Claims Specialist to support disaster recovery efforts by managing the end-to-end claims process. This role involves frequent travel to conduct on-site inspections and assessments in disaster-impacted areas. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in disaster-related claims, exceptional customer service skills, and deep expertise in Xactimate software.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct claimant intake and manage inquiries with a customer-first approach.
  • Collect and review all requisite supporting documentation for claims.
  • Travel to and perform on-site inspections to assess disaster-related damages.
  • Develop detailed subject matter expert reports and comprehensive Proofs of Loss (POLs).
  • Review and validate requested claim amounts; determine qualified amounts.
  • Identify and assess duplication of benefits to ensure accurate compensation.
  • Provide clear, well-documented recommendations for maximum compensation determinations.
  • Ensure all processes comply with applicable federal policies, regulations, and guidance.
  • Maintain a claimant-centric approach that enhances efficiency, effectiveness, and service quality.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years in claims or case processing, including customer service, data entry, and evaluation of disaster-related losses.
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Expert-level proficiency in Xactimate for damage assessment and POL development.
  • Strong understanding of disaster-related damage types (fire, flood, structural).
  • Proficiency in claims management software and relevant databases.
  • Policy Knowledge: Ability to interpret and apply complex federal policies, statutes, and regulations.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to explain technical and policy-related information clearly to diverse stakeholders.
  • Travel: Willingness and ability to travel frequently, sometimes on short notice, to disaster-affected areas.
