Our client is seeking a Mechanical Estimator who brings precision, clarity, and confidence to the bidding process. You’ll take ownership of mechanical estimates—from piping and equipment setting to HVAC and process systems—on projects up to $50M. If you know how to dig into drawings, build competitive pricing models, and collaborate closely with field teams, this is your chance to make an impact.


What You’ll Do

  • Lead mechanical takeoffs and develop detailed cost estimates for industrial projects
  • Review plans, specifications, and contract documents to fully understand project scope
  • Attend pre-bid meetings, flag key risks and opportunities, and develop a strategic bid approach
  • Break projects into manageable scope packages and build structured, data-driven estimates
  • Collaborate with subcontractors and vendors to solicit and compare quotes—targeting 3+ per trade or material
  • Input and manage estimates using Accubid, including labor factors and material pricing
  • Identify indirect costs, build preliminary schedules, and support cash flow and risk analysis
  • Draft scope breakdowns, inclusions/exclusions, clarifications, and proposal documents
  • Support internal bid reviews and assist with turnover documentation if the project is awarded
  • Coordinate closely with operations and project management during preconstruction and handoff


What You Bring

  • 2+ years of mechanical estimating experience on industrial or large commercial projects
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems (HVAC, piping, process, equipment setting)
  • Proficiency with Accubid and Microsoft Excel
  • Experience reading and interpreting complex mechanical drawings and specifications
  • Excellent communication, organization, and critical thinking skills
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (must be 21+ to operate company vehicle)


Preferred Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, construction management, or related field
  • Familiarity with HCSS HeavyBid or other estimating/project controls software
  • Hands-on field experience in mechanical scopes
  • Scheduling knowledge using MS Project or Primavera P6
