About Saint Louis Priory School

Founded in 1956 by the Benedictine monks of Saint Louis Abbey, Saint Louis Priory School is a Catholic, Benedictine, college preparatory school for young men in grades 6–12. Rooted in Benedictine values, Priory exists as a unique collaboration between monastic life and secondary education, forming students in mind, body, and spirit.

Priory is accredited by the Independent Schools Association of the Central States (ISACS) and is in good standing with the National Catholic Educational Association. Its 150-acre campus, located in the Creve Coeur area of St. Louis County, includes academic, athletic, and cultural facilities, as well as the Abbey Church—an internationally recognized work of architecture designed by Gyo Obata of HOK. The school community is enriched daily by the presence of the Benedictine monks, who serve as teachers, mentors, spiritual guides, and role models for students.

At the heart of Priory’s mission is the Benedictine charism: prayer and work (ora et labora), community, humility, hospitality, and stewardship. These values permeate every aspect of school life, fostering a brotherhood where young men are called to seek God in all things. This integration of faith, community, and scholarship distinguishes Priory among Catholic schools in the United States.

Priory is widely recognized for its classical liberal arts education and proven academic excellence in both the humanities and STEM disciplines. This education builds a strong foundation in leadership, service, and spirituality. Alumni carry forward the spirit of St. Benedict as leaders in business, medicine, law, education, religious life, and public service. United by the bonds of brotherhood and the Abbey’s enduring presence, Priory graduates are men who live with purpose, integrity, and faith.
