Lighthouse Technology Services is partnering with our client to fill their Service & Product Design Manager position! This is a 6-12 month contract-to-hire opportunity and will be hybrid in Charlotte, NC (on-site 4 days/week). This role will be a W2 employee of Lighthouse Technology Services.


Position Overview

The Service & Product Design Manager will lead design efforts across a suite of complex tools that power our food operations, ranging from purchasing, planning and recipe standardization to vendor integration and order management.


As we build our design capability, we’re looking for someone with experience spanning from Service Design to Product Design, equally comfortable thinking in and mapping different systems for dependencies, and translating them into UX/UI Designs for production. Your primary role is to understand the users, how they're using the tools, their jobs-to-be-done and how they impact operations. This is a hybrid role that requires both strategic thinking and hands on tactical execution for delivery. You’ll lead discovery, co-create future-state journeys for collaboration, and create intuitive UI solutions that meet real-world operational needs, all while collaborating closely with Product, Engineering, and Business stakeholders.


What You'll Be Doing:

  • Lead end-to-end Service Design (20-30%) and Product Design (70-80%) efforts across a suite of products
  • Conduct ecosystem-level mapping, current-state and future-state journey design, and develop UX/UI designs that help users achieve their tasks
  • Identify system dependencies, data flows, and user pain points
  • Translate research and operational insights into intuitive product experiences
  • Collaborate with operators, SMEs, and users to deeply understand workflows and challenges
  • Partner with Product and Engineering to define problems and features aligned with business and user needs
  • Mentor and coach 1–3 designers, promoting design excellence through feedback and critique
  • Facilitate cross-functional workshops to drive collaboration and alignment
  • Translate high-level service designs into hands-on UI work in Figma
  • Clearly document and communicate design decisions to stakeholders


What You'll Need to Have:

  • 7+ years of experience in Product, UX, or Service Design with at least 1-2 years in a design leadership role
  • Demonstrated experience in operations-heavy environments (supply chain, food tech, logistics)
  • Strong product thinking with ability to navigate user needs, business logic, and system architecture
  • Proven experience designing for enterprise platforms or SaaS products with complex workflows
  • Proficiency with Figma and service design toolkits (e.g., journey maps, service blueprints)
  • Skilled in leading user research such as field observations, interviews, and usability testing
  • Comfortable facilitating design reviews and collaborative sessions
  • Strategic systems thinker with hands-on UI design capabilities
  • Collaborative, human-centered problem solver who thrives in evolving product environments
  • Familiarity with complex ERP or Enterprise SaaS tools
  • Experience coaching designers or contributing to design team structure and design process is a plus


Pay Range: $65-$70/hr
