We are currently seeking an experienced HR Coordinator for a credit union located in Kailua-Kona, HI.

 

Type: Full-time; Direct Hire

 

Salary: $52,000-74,000 annually

 

Schedule: Monday - Friday: 8:00am - 5:00pm

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as primary contact for benefits vendors and manage all employee benefit programs (health insurance, 401(k), life insurance, flexible spending accounts).
  • Coordinate open enrollment, benefit changes, and related communications; organize on-site vendor presentations.
  • Ensure timely processing of benefit enrollments, changes, and monthly insurance billing; resolve discrepancies.
  • Support year-end benefits reporting (Forms 5500) and audits; file annual EEO-1 report.
  • Provide guidance to employees on benefits and HR policies; maintain related documentation and filing systems.
  • Conduct new hire onboarding, explain HR policies and benefits, and process personnel forms.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date personnel records, including job descriptions, employee status changes, and employee portal updates.
  • Assist with recruitment: schedule interviews, post job openings, and manage application/resume files.
  • Process payroll and all related changes (new hires, salary adjustments, terminations, leave, etc.).
  • Track and maintain employee vacation schedules and leave accruals; ensure policy compliance.
  • Compose HR letters, prepare reports, and handle confidential administrative tasks.
  • Conduct exit interviews and assist with employee terminations when needed.
  • Submit monthly HR reports to the President and support department goals and projects.
  • Provide support and training to HR staff and other employees as needed.
  • Assist in planning and coordinating employee events, including the annual membership meeting and Employee Joint Conference.
  • Promote Credit Union services and actively cross-sell relevant products.
  • Supervise direct reports: conduct performance appraisals, recommend compensation and staffing changes, and coordinate schedules.
  • Complete and comply with all required Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) training and policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements:

  • 3 years’ experience or human resources experience
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. required.
  • Must be bondable with a clear credit rating.
  • Knowledge of all applicable labor laws and regulations.
  • Knowledge of computer system (IBM or IBM compatible) and proficient on PC word processing and spreadsheet programs.
  • Detail-oriented with strong judgment, logical thinking, and ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Understands and applies rules, policies, regulations, and ensures compliance.
  • Works independently, creatively, and well with others, even under pressure.
  • Basic math skills and effective communication (verbal and written).
