Position Overview:

The Tax Manager will oversee and support the company’s federal and state and local tax (SALT) compliance, reporting, and planning activities. This individual will play a key role in ensuring accurate and timely tax filings, managing tax provisions, supporting audits, and identifying opportunities to improve tax processes and mitigate risk. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical knowledge of federal corporate income tax and SALT, along with the ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate effectively across the organization.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the preparation and review of federal, state, and local income tax returns, extensions, estimated payments, and related filings.
  • Oversee federal and SALT tax compliance calendars to ensure all filing and payment requirements are completed accurately and on time.
  • Prepare and review quarterly and annual income tax provisions and supporting workpapers in accordance with ASC 740.
  • Manage state income and franchise tax matters, including nexus, apportionment, state modifications, and other SALT considerations.
  • Research and analyze federal and state tax laws and regulations and assess their impact on the organization.
  • Support federal, state, and local tax audits and examinations, including responding to information requests and coordinating with external advisors and taxing authorities.
  • Assist with tax planning initiatives and identify opportunities to improve tax efficiency and minimize exposure.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments and communicate relevant changes and potential business impacts.
  • Partner with Accounting, Finance, Legal, and other departments to gather information and address tax-related matters.
  • Manage relationships with external tax advisors and oversee outsourced compliance and consulting activities as needed.
  • Assist with tax-related aspects of acquisitions, integrations, restructurings, and other strategic transactions.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation and internal controls related to tax processes and reporting.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline, automate, and improve tax processes, reporting, and compliance procedures.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related field required.
  • CPA and/or Master’s degree in Taxation preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive corporate tax and/or public accounting experience, including meaningful experience with both federal and SALT matters.
  • Strong knowledge of federal corporate income taxation and state and local income/franchise tax requirements.
  • Experience with ASC 740 tax provision accounting preferred.
  • Experience preparing and reviewing multi-state tax filings and working with nexus and apportionment matters.
  • Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with tax compliance and research software.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and with external advisors.


Base Salary: $120k - $140k
