Summary:

Essentra is looking for a full-time Health, Safety and Environmental Manager in Erie, PA for our manufacturing plant and warehouse. This individual will be responsible for implementing, directing and maintaining a variety of occupational health, safety, environmental programs, policies and practices to achieve a safe and compliant work environment. Typical hours are 8:00am-5:00pm with flexibility to work additional time if needed.


At this time, we are seeking local candidates in the Erie, PA area, and we are not offering relocation assistance.


Typical Accountabilities:


  • Assist in new employee occupational health, safety, and environmental orientation.
  • Develop and deliver specialized education and training materials.
  • Conduct targeted safety and environmental training programs to communicate hazard control information.
  • Identify and evaluate hazardous conditions and practices in the workplace.
  • Perform surveys to assess occupational health, safety, and environmental conditions.
  • Conduct and coordinate on-site inspections to audit physical conditions and safe work practices.
  • Provide expert advice on city, state, and federal compliance regulations.
  • Develop and implement controls for identified hazards.
  • Coordinate the implementation of hazard controls based on analysis results.
  • Measure and evaluate the effectiveness of hazard control systems, policies, and procedures; recommend improvements.
  • Compile, analyze, interpret, and report accident, loss, and exposure statistical data.
  • Prepare comprehensive recommendations for corrective actions to eliminate or minimize potential hazards.
  • Review injury and property damage reports for trends and insights.
  • Direct environmental compliance programs and initiatives.
  • Integrate occupational health, safety, and environmental requirements into purchasing and control processes.
  • Recommend the purchase of safety equipment and supplies.

 

Qualifications:

• 4 year degree in Risk Management, Safety Management, Engineering desired or equivalent work experience.

• At least 5 years of related experience as an HSE Manager/Lead for a manufacturing organization.

• Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DEP, ISO, and DOT regulations.

• Must be able to read and write in English.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills.

• Good analytical and problem-solving abilities.

• Prior supervisory experience.

• Ability to train employees at all levels.

• Ability to work safely in a fast-paced environment.

• Self-motivated, high energy, and a team player.

• Committed to a philosophy of continuous improvement.

• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.

• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with minimal supervision.
