Workers' Compensation Legal Assistant/Paralegal

A well-established and highly regarded law firm in downtown Chicago is seeking a Bilingual (Spanish) Workers' Compensation Legal Assistant/Paralegal to join their team. Specializing in Workers' Compensation, Personal Injury, and Medical Malpractice cases, this firm has built a strong reputation for advocating for injured clients and securing the justice they deserve. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in workers' compensation law, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to communicate with Spanish-speaking clients effectively.
Position Overview:
This full-time, onsite position will play a pivotal role in the firm’s day-to-day operations, providing critical support to attorneys and maintaining the smooth progression of cases. The successful candidate will manage a busy caseload and collaborate with the legal team to meet deadlines while ensuring clients receive outstanding service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a high volume of workers' compensation cases from inception to resolution, working closely with attorneys to ensure deadlines are met and case progress is maintained.
- Conduct client interviews to gather key information, explain case developments, and answer any questions—both in English and Spanish.
- Prepare legal documents, including motions, forms, and correspondence, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
- Assist with hearing, deposition, and trial preparation, organizing all necessary exhibits, witness lists, and documents.
- Handle medical records requests and subpoenas, coordinating with healthcare providers to obtain relevant documentation.
- Maintain organized and up-to-date case files, with regular updates in the firm’s case management system.
- Assist attorneys with legal research and other administrative tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
- 2-4 years of experience in workers' compensation law and am proven capable of handling a heavy caseload.
- Bilingual in Spanish—must be fluent in written and spoken Spanish, and able to communicate effectively with Spanish-speaking clients.
- Exceptional organizational skills with high attention to detail to ensure accuracy in managing documents and deadlines.
- Strong communication and listening skills, with a client-focused approach to delivering quality service.
