Job Overview

Our client, a highly respected IT Services provider with nearly 40 years of experience, is seeking a senior-level Pre-Sales Engineer to support their Northern New Jersey territory. This region has a strong concentration of Pharmaceutical, Biotech, and large Healthcare system clients, making vertical expertise critical to success.

This is a strategic, customer-facing role focused on designing sophisticated datacenter and hybrid infrastructure solutions for highly regulated environments. The engineer will act as the primary technical partner to the sales team, helping clients modernize compute, storage, virtualization, and cloud architecture while ensuring compliance with healthcare and life sciences regulations.

The role is primarily remote; however, candidates must live in Northern NJ and be comfortable traveling to client sites throughout the territory.

This opportunity is ideal for someone who understands both the technical depth of enterprise datacenter architecture and the business impact of infrastructure decisions within Healthcare and Pharmaceutical organizations.

  • Lead technical discovery sessions with Pharmaceutical and Healthcare clients to assess infrastructure needs and regulatory requirements
  • Architect end-to-end datacenter solutions including compute, storage, HCI, virtualization, and hybrid cloud

  • Develop detailed Bills of Materials (BOMs), Statements of Work (SOWs), and technical proposals
  • Deliver executive-level presentations and solution demonstrations tailored to healthcare use cases
  • Conduct Proof of Concept (PoC) engagements and technical validations
  • Serve as subject matter expert during handoff to post-sales engineering teams

Qualifications

  • Compute platforms (Cisco UCS, HPE, Dell)
  • Enterprise storage (Pure Storage, NetApp, Dell/EMC, SAN/NAS)
  • Virtualization (VMware vSphere, vSAN, NSX)
  • Hyperconverged Infrastructure (Nutanix, VxRail)
  • Solid understanding of datacenter networking and integration with compute/storage layers
  • Familiarity with hybrid cloud connectivity (AWS, Azure)
  • Knowledge of backup and disaster recovery solutions in regulated environments
  • Strong executive communication skills with the ability to translate technical design into business value

Preferred Certifications

  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or equivalent
  • Cisco CCNP Data Center or equivalent infrastructure certification
  • AWS or Azure Solutions Architect certification
  • Familiarity with HIPAA or HITRUST frameworks

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary between $125,000 and $150,000
  • Commission plan tied to territory performance
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits
  • 401(k) plan
  • Paid time off
  • Professional development and certification support
