Data Security Engineer

We are partnering with an organization building out its enterprise data protection and governance framework. They are seeking a hands-on Data Security Engineer to lead implementation of Microsoft Purview and related DLP technologies across the environment.
This role carries real ownership. You will design, configure, and operationalize the controls that protect sensitive data across M365, SaaS platforms, and enterprise data stores.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and configure Microsoft Purview, including Data Map, Data Loss Prevention, Information Protection, and Insider Risk capabilities
- Execute enterprise-wide data discovery scans to identify and classify sensitive information
- Build and maintain a structured data inventory with defined data owners and risk levels
- Deploy and tune automated classification and labeling policies
- Configure and optimize DLP policies that generate alerts and enforcement actions
- Partner with Identity and Access Management teams to reduce exposure and enforce least-privilege access
- Implement advanced data protection techniques such as tokenization, format-preserving encryption, and field-level encryption
- Contribute to the design and rollout of a scalable data governance program

What Will Make You Successful
- Direct, hands-on experience configuring Microsoft Purview in production environments
- Experience executing data discovery and classification programs at scale
- Strong DLP engineering background, including policy tuning and alert management
- Experience working alongside IAM teams on access governance
- Comfort using PowerShell, APIs, or scripting to automate security workflows
- Experience standing up governance processes, not just maintaining existing ones
