Position: IT, Coder II (Physician Coding)

Location: Los Angeles, CA (100% Remote Role)

Duration: Contract through July 2026, with potential for extension 

Pay Rate: $30-34/hr


Position Overview

A healthcare organization is seeking an experienced Physician (Professional Fee) Coder to support coding operations and ensure accurate documentation and coding of patient conditions, treatments, and procedures. This role focuses on professional/physician-side coding and requires strong knowledge of Evaluation & Management (E/M) coding and minor procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review medical records for completeness and accuracy
  • Abstract and code clinical data including diagnoses, procedures, and therapies using standard classification systems
  • Assign appropriate CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS codes for physician services
  • Ensure coding accuracy and compliance with regulatory and organizational guidelines
  • Meet productivity standards of approximately 80 accounts per day while maintaining high accuracy
  • Work independently in a remote environment while meeting production goals

Required Qualifications

  • 3–5+ years of recent professional (physician-based) coding experience
  • Strong experience with Evaluation & Management (E/M) coding and minor procedures
  • Thorough knowledge of CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS coding guidelines
  • Experience using EPIC and 3M Encoder
  • Ability to work independently and meet productivity and accuracy standards
  • Required certification: CPC, CCS, or CCS-P

Preferred Qualifications

  • Some inpatient coding experience
  • Oncology/cancer-related coding experience strongly preferred
  • Experience specifically with physician/professional fee coding (not outpatient facility coding)
