Junior Project Accountant
Location: Onsite in Tustin, CA | Full-Time
Compensation: $21.00 – $28.12/hour + bonus + full benefits
Our team is partnering with a growing and highly regarded organization to identify a Jr. Project Accountant who wants to build a strong foundation in project-based accounting. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on exposure across billing, accounts payable, and project financial operations while working closely with cross-functional teams.

What You’ll Be Responsible For
Project Accounting & Billing Support
- Work alongside Project Managers to support the financial lifecycle of projects from kickoff through completion
- Review and track project labor hours, ensuring accurate classification between deposits, revenue, and deferred balances
- Assist with weekly adjustments and reconciliations tied to project activity
- Prepare and issue invoices, ensuring accuracy and proper documentation
- Monitor billing timelines and follow up on outstanding payments to help maintain healthy cash flow
- Provide reporting on accounts receivable status and escalate aging balances as needed
- Gather and organize financial documentation to support internal and external audit requests
Accounts Payable & Inventory Coordination
- Process vendor invoices tied to projects and inventory with a high level of accuracy
- Ensure proper coding to project accounts and alignment with purchase orders
- Perform two-way and three-way matching (invoice, PO, and receipt)
- Validate inventory-related transactions, including quantities, pricing, and supporting documentation
- Support monthly accruals related to unbilled expenses and open receipts
- Investigate discrepancies and ensure financial records reflect accurate project costs
Team & Process Contribution
- Collaborate with accounting team members to ensure smooth workflows and coverage across functions
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency within accounts payable and project accounting processes
- Build strong working relationships with internal teams, vendors, and clients
What We’re Looking For
- Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, or equivalent hands-on experience
- 2+ years of experience in accounting, preferably with exposure to project-based environments
- Familiarity with accounting systems and internal controls, including SOX-related processes
- Intermediate Excel skills (including functions such as VLOOKUP, SUMIF/SUMIFS)
- Experience with invoice processing and matching (2-way and 3-way)
- Understanding of accruals, particularly within accounts payable
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
- Clear and professional communication skills across teams and stakeholders
Schedule & Work Environment
- Full-time, onsite role
- Standard hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
- Flexibility to support additional hours when business needs require
Compensation & Benefits
