Real Estate Underwriter – Business Purpose Lending

We’re looking for a skilled Underwriter who understands the nuance of DSCR, bridge, and fix-and-flip loans, and knows how to balance risk with service. This isn’t a "check-the-box" environment—your judgment, creativity, and ownership will shape the deals that get done.

 What You'll Do:

• Underwrite a variety of business-purpose loans: DSCR, bridge, rehab, rental portfolios, and new construction
• Analyze borrower credit, income (where applicable), rental income, collateral, and exit strategy
• Review appraisals, title, and construction budgets for red flags and feasibility
• Work directly with sales, processing, closing, and asset management to structure win-win deals
• Identify exceptions and escalate appropriately with justifiable risk rationale
• Maintain compliance with internal credit policy and investor overlays
• Turn files quickly with accuracy—we close in 7-10 days

 What You Bring:

• 2+ years underwriting experience in private lending, non-QM, or business-purpose loans
• Comfort with investor-based deals—DSCR, fix-and-flip, bridge, and rental portfolios
• Ability to assess risk holistically: borrower, asset, market, and loan structure
• Strong communication skills—you’ll collaborate with sales and ops teams regularly
• Proficiency in Salesforce, Encompass, Excel, and loan guidelines (ours and industrywide)
• Fast, organized, and accountable

 Bonus Points:

• Experience with draw management, construction feasibility, or fund control
• Familiarity with non-agency securitization guidelines
• Background in credit policy creation or underwriting training
