Job Summary
Reporting to our EVP Construction, the Director Category Manager of Procurement will lead our procurement team and oversee all aspects of sourcing, purchasing, supply and inventory management. He/she will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic procurement strategies, conducting multi-year strategic sourcing cycles, conducting ongoing supplier relationship management, and ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in strategic and transactional procurement as well as supply chain management along with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and excellent communication and leadership abilities.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Ø Lead and manage a centralized procurement team, including a Purchasing Manager, Category Manager (to be hired) and Buyers located across our three main locations, ensuring they have the necessary skills, resources, and support to perform their duties.
Ø Develop and implement procurement strategy that supports the company's short-term and long-term objectives.
Ø Execute Strategic Sourcing across direct and indirect categories in multi-year cycles including:
· Managing and updating the total spend baselines per category.
· Conducting supply market research.
· Developing and managing RFIs & RFPs leveraging e-sourcing technology as makes sense.
· Analyzing large datasets of supplier bids, developing and running award scenario analyses and directing award of business considering Total Cost of Ownership.
· Managing supplier contracts and agreements.
Ø Implementing and monitoring supplier awards, overseeing necessary supplier qualification and ensuring seamless transition to transactional Procure-to-Pay (Purchasing).
Ø Ensure continuous value improvement while under contract through Supplier Relationship Management, including QBRs with tier one Preferred Supply Partners as well as more optimized management of second and third-tier suppliers.
Ø Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and policies regarding procurement and inventory management, such as environmental, health, and safety standards.
Ø Collaborate with other departments, such as sales, marketing, finance, and operations, to ensure alignment and coordination of procurement activities and objectives.
Ø Prepare and present procurement reports and metrics, such as spend analysis, savings, supplier performance, and inventory turnover.
Ø Identify and implement best practices and continuous improvement initiatives to continue extracting value out of procurement.
Skills
Ø Proven track record of developing and executing multi-year procurement strategies and achieving measurable, tangible cost savings and efficiency objectives.
Ø Strong knowledge of procurement, strategic sourcing, and supply chain principles, commonly accepted frameworks, practices, and systems.
Ø Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ø Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle large datasets of thousands of SKUs, run scenario analytics and make data-driven decisions.
Ø Proficient in Microsoft Office with strong Excel skills and knowledge of typical procure-to-pay modules in ERP software.
Ø Technology savvy with strong ability to pick up and learn e-sourcing, visualization and procure-2-pay software.
Ø Ability to lead and motivate a team, as well as work collaboratively with cross-functional stakeholders.
Ø Deep knowledge of typical MEP contracting sourcing categories such as Piping, PVF, HVAC, Electrical.
Ø Deep knowledge of commodity markets relevant to direct sourcing categories (copper, cast iron, polypropylene, etc.).
Ø Deep knowledge of supplier contracting and contract life cycle management.
Ø Ability and willingness to “get hands dirty” and source multiple categories while leading a team.
Ø Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple categories and priorities in parallel.
Ø Attention to detail and commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.
Education & Experience
Ø Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, engineering, or related field.
Ø Minimum of 10 years of experience in procurement and supply chain management, preferably in the industrial wholesale distribution, contracting or construction industry.
Ø Strategic Sourcing (for example, 6 or 7 step sourcing) and SRM experience.
Ø Knowledge of basic statistics and advanced analytics is a plus.
Ø Consulting experience or experience having worked with top-tier consultants in strategic sourcing projects is a plus.
Ø Project Management (PMP) or Supply Management (CPSM, CPPM, MCIPS) designation is a plus.
