Metrics is seeking a skilled product and customer-obsessed engineer who quickly builds and iterates on the user-facing surfaces and the customer impact of this company's technologies. We need an engineer who cares about the user experience above all — and is constantly driven by direct user feedback in a quest to make the product as frictionless and delightful as possible.

Responsibilities

• Ship and own a new dashboard that enables users to be see value and act on optimizations. (in the first month)
• Build and iterate on all user-facing surfaces of the product: the webapp, github app, IDE extensions etc.
• Get and implement feedback by users of the GitHub app.
• Put in place automation around deployment and code quality to speed up our iteration cycles.

Successful Qualities

• Quick learner: can pick up new tools, frameworks or libraries same-day by learning through doing; not afraid to use AI tools to help get started on anything
• Customer-Obsessed: builds things by testing them with actual users and their reaction guides what to build next; frequently “touches grass”
• Curious: hungry to learn new things, especially new frameworks or libraries
• Hacker: Knows when to take on tech debt to ship a new quick and dirty implementation versus when to polish; can “build for the demo”; can “build one to throw away”; competitive programming or math olympiad experience a major plus
• Proven: has experience quickly shipping whole systems and iterating on real web products used and loved by real users
• Biased towards action: comfortable (and excited by!) going from initial idea to live deployment in a short amount of time

Requirements

• Strong TypeScript and React experience (Nextjs a plus) in production environments.
• Good understanding of Python and programming language fundamentals.
• Knowledge of and already using AI tools daily is a major plus.
