The Livingston County United Way (LCUW) is a collaborating partner, working together with many non-profit, for-profit, governmental and faith-based organizations, to address the most critical human service needs of Livingston County residents. Located in Brighton, MI, the LCUW is a driving force of change in the community, focusing on providing local families resources for financial stability, improving children’s lives, and promoting community health & wellness.


The Executive Director Position

The LCUW is looking to add an experienced Executive Director to its team. The Executive Director is responsible for the overall leadership and management of Livingston County United Way, including service programs, fundraising, and business operations. Areas of responsibility include planning and evaluation, policy development and administration, human resources and fiscal management, and public relations.

 

The ideal candidate will be capable of seeing the big picture while also staying detail-focused and dedicated to keeping all processes running smoothly. Leading a small, highly productive staff, the Executive Director will build upon the organization’s strong culture that has been built over the last 40+ years.

Preferred Experience, Skills, and Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree (required), Master’s degree preferred
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to multi-task
  • Extensive fund development, donor relations, and grant writing experience
  • Successful executive leadership experience with another United Way, non-profit or related field
  • Demonstrated ability to manage people and processes in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of the Livingston County – or a similar community
  • Ability to develop and communicate a future vision for the organization
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse community groups and organizations


Compensation and Benefits for the Executive Director Position

This is a high-profile position for a self-managed professional. We are willing to consider flexible work hours and/or a hybrid work schedule and offer a competitive salary, based on skills and experience. The compensation package also includes medical insurance, dental insurance, a qualified retirement plan and paid time-off.


The Recruitment Process for the Executive Director Position

The recruitment process will include a mixture of phone and in-person interviews, candidate assessments, and a pre-employment background check and drug test. The process is designed to make sure that candidates are aligned with the Livingston County United Way’s long-term goals and have shared core values.
