The Role
A mid-level Staff Accountant role within a growing organization, ideal for someone with a solid foundation in accounting and the ability to support a variety of financial functions throughout monthly and year-end cycles.
This position is well suited for someone who is adaptable, detail-oriented, and comfortable shifting priorities in a dynamic environment. Strong integrity, sound judgment, and the ability to build collaborative working relationships across teams are essential to success in this role.
Skills testing may be included as part of the recruitment process.
Responsibilities
- Support trust or specialized account activities, including reviewing and posting deposits where applicable
- Process daily receipts and deposits (EFT, cheque, credit card) and maintain accurate documentation
- Monitor for discrepancies, flag issues, and provide updates to leadership as needed
- Complete daily and monthly bank reconciliations
- Prepare month-end journal entries and general ledger account reconciliations
- Assist with statutory filings, reporting, and compliance-related tasks
- Support day-to-day accounting operations and ad hoc finance initiatives
- Provide coverage across billing, payables, receivables, and collections during peak periods
- Assist with monitoring finance-related inboxes and shared workflows
- Learn and support additional accounting functions to improve team coverage and operational efficiency
Requirements
- Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field — or equivalent practical experience
- 3–5 years of experience in full-cycle accounting or a combination of AP, AR, billing, payroll, or related functions
- Experience in fast-paced or professional environments is considered an asset
- Experience using accounting or ERP software (specific platforms are a plus but not required)
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft 365
- Comfortable learning new systems and financial tools
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills
- High level of integrity, accountability, and discretion
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Adaptable, collaborative, and comfortable working in a team-based environment
