THE ROLE

STRIVE Recruitment is proud to be partnering with one of Western Canada's most respected real estate development organisations to recruit a Project Accountant for their downtown Vancouver head office.

This opportunity is ideal for an accounting professional with experience in construction, development, property, or project accounting who is looking to further develop their career within a stable and highly regarded organisation.

Working alongside an experienced finance team, you will play an integral role in supporting the financial management of development projects from inception through completion. This position offers broad exposure to development accounting, project cost tracking, construction draws, lender reporting, and financial controls while partnering closely with Project Managers, Quantity Surveyors, and other key stakeholders.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage the day-to-day accounting activities for assigned development projects
• Review and code development and construction invoices
• Monitor project expenditures and cost tracking throughout the project lifecycle
• Manage project cash flow activities and support bank draw processes
• Maintain project trial balances and reconcile Work-in-Progress (WIP) accounts
• Track GST for project entities and support regulatory filings
• Prepare documentation and reporting packages for construction draws
• Liaise with Quantity Surveyors (QS) to obtain draw information and review reports
• Work directly with lenders and banking partners to facilitate project funding requirements
• Support project teams by ensuring financial information is accurate, complete, and delivered on time
• Monitor project costs and identify discrepancies requiring investigation
• Support month-end activities and various project accounting initiatives
• Assist with smaller capital improvement and building upgrade projects
• Contribute to process improvements and ad hoc finance projects as required

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

• 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience
• Previous experience within construction, real estate development, project accounting, property accounting, or a related project-based environment
• Strong understanding of project costing, accounts payable, month-end accounting, and financial reconciliations
• Experience working with construction draws, WIP accounting, or development projects would be highly advantageous
• Advanced Excel skills including VLOOKUP, SUMIF, SUMIFS, and related functions
• Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail
• Able to manage multiple priorities while working independently
• Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships across project and finance teams
• Self-motivated with a proactive and collaborative approach
