The Role
An established organization within the construction and building materials sector is seeking a Technical Services Assistant to support its technical operations. This role is well suited for someone interested in gaining hands-on experience in a technical environment while building a long-term career.
The Technical Services Assistant provides general support across testing, documentation, and technical activities, with opportunities to develop skills, take on increasing responsibility, and grow into more advanced technical roles over time. Training and mentorship are provided, and the role offers exposure to a variety of technical and operational projects.
Responsibilities
- Conduct laboratory testing of concrete and related construction materials.
- Support quality control activities and ensure accuracy and consistency of test results.
- Maintain clear, accurate laboratory records, reports, and documentation.
- Assist with raw material evaluations and product performance testing.
- Maintain, organize, and support calibration of laboratory equipment.
- Provide technical support to internal teams through testing data and analysis.
- Assist with field trials, product demonstrations, and application testing as required.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support R&D and technical projects.
- Develop increasing technical expertise in concrete technology and construction materials.
- Gradually take on greater responsibility in technical problem-solving, customer support, presentations, and training activities.
Requirements
- Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Materials Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Previous experience in technical services or concrete and construction materials testing is considered an asset.
- Strong interest in building a long-term technical career in the construction materials industry.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-based environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Willingness to learn, openness to mentorship, and adaptability to changing priorities.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
