POSITION SUMMARY: We are seeking a collaborative and creative Architectural Designer & Coordinator to contribute fresh ideas and support the evolution of its brand. This role requires an innovative team player who will help drive design direction, developing standout plans that will enhance client experiences and reflect our client's market presence and quality standards. Working closely with colleagues, this designer will bring a strong sense of creativity and strategic insight, blending current trends with a clear vision to create designs that resonate with clients. 

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: 

  • Work with Lead Architectural Designer to translate new plan and elevation design concept sketches into 2D CAD construction drawings (initially) and into 3D models/construction drawings (at a later date)
  • Become familiar with the company's portfolio and how it has been utilized throughout the various communities where they build
  • Complete revisions to existing 2D CAD plans for new developments based on team and/or client feedback
  • Watch tutorial videos and collaborate with architectural team to learn and continuously develop a 3D/BIM system for future projects
  • Support Lead Architectural Designer with hand-drawn or 3D renderings as needed
  • Contribute design insights at architectural team “studio” meetings 
  • Facilitate coordination with the interior design, estimating, and planning team members to ensure that architectural plans support internal team goals (material take-offs and schedules, visualization of interior design features, etc.)
  • In tandem with the Lead Architectural Designer, evaluate floor plan/elevation design through digital redlining at internal design review meetings
  • Work with team to develop and evolve plan portfolios to meet market demands, the company's Architectural Style Guidelines, and plan-related sales tools.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of pricing and how it relates to plan design.
  • Work with team to ensure construction details/sections/materials are defined and executed properly.
  • Ensure building science, construction best practices, and building codes are used to confirm the viability of designs.
  • Explore new building techniques and materials and evolve plan design to new standards of construction.
  • Incorporate field verifications/field problem resolutions into plan design and evolution.
  • Understand Architectural Review Board and/or Unified Development Ordinance guidelines of all subdivisions in which Homes by Dickerson builds.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:  

  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Architecture is desired but not required. 
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD/Chief Architect or other design software. 
  • Proficiency in digital redlines or sketching is desired. 
  • Familiarity with construction best practices, applicable building codes, zoning ordinances, various building types, and other legal restrictions.

  • Ability to generate new or different products or solutions; express fresh insight & think outside of existing paradigms.
  • Motivated to seek further education on new design and construction methods.
  • Able to maintain composure and resourcefulness to complete job responsibilities while maintaining urgency.
  • Ability to exercise judgment in building realistic solutions to problems.
