The Opportunity
As a Senior Sales Underwriter – Inland Marine, you will be responsible for growing and managing a profitable book of business within your assigned territory. This is a production-focused role combining technical underwriting expertise with strong sales, relationship management, and distribution skills. You will support both new and renewal business while delivering a high level of customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
Underwriting, Coverage & Pricing
- Evaluate complex inland marine risks using historical data, financial analysis, and industry trends
- Develop comprehensive risk management solutions, balancing coverage, limits, and pricing
- Structure complex policies using endorsements and specialized coverage options
- Apply loss prevention strategies in collaboration with risk engineering partners
Underwriting & Compliance
- Ensure underwriting decisions meet regulatory and compliance standards
- Maintain detailed, organized documentation outlining underwriting decisions
- Engage internal and external stakeholders to deliver outcomes aligned with company standards
- Operate with a continuous improvement mindset, identifying efficiencies where possible
Sales & Distribution Management
- Drive written premium growth through new business development and renewals
- Build and maintain strong, consultative relationships with retail agency partners
- Conduct effective agency review meetings to support mutual growth objectives
- Support prospecting, cross-selling, negotiations, competitive analysis, and market positioning
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent job-related experience
- 5+ years of insurance underwriting experience
- 3+ years of monoline inland marine underwriting experience
- Proven success in production underwriting
- Strong relationship management and sales acumen
- Ability to work independently in an entrepreneurial environment
- Strong collaboration, customer focus, and critical thinking skills
- Ability to travel up to 25%
- Valid driver’s license
This role is fully remote, but candidates must be based in Texas, Oklahoma, or Arkansas.
